How we move a piano in Sarnia
Before moving day we ask about the piano type and the path at both homes: steps, stairs, door widths and turns. That tells us how many movers to send and which equipment to bring, whether it is an upright in a downtown home or a grand piano in a newer house.
Upright pianos
Upright and console pianos are wrapped in moving blankets, strapped to a piano dolly and kept upright the whole way. On stairs we use extra hands and controlled, step-by-step movement.
Baby grand and grand pianos
For a grand piano we remove the legs and pedal lyre, wrap the body and place it on its side on a padded piano board, then strap it in place. At the new home we rebuild it in the spot you choose.
Protecting your home
We pad door frames and banisters and protect floors along the path, so the only thing that changes is where your piano stands.
After the move
Pianos often need tuning after a move, because temperature and humidity change. We suggest booking your tuner two to three weeks after the piano is settled in its new room.
